About these terms
These terms apply when you use geniemenu.co.uk. By creating an account you agree to them. How we handle your information is explained in our privacy policy. Nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
Your account
You need to be 18 or over to have an account. Keep your password to yourself, and tell us straight away at support@geniemenu.co.uk if you think someone else has used your account. One account is for one household.
Your free week, and when it ends
Basic starts with a free week. You add a card when you start, through Stripe, and nothing is taken that day.
When the free week ends, you're moved onto Basic automatically. We take £4.99 from your card on the eighth day, and again on the same date each month, until you cancel. You don't need to do anything to carry on; your plans, list and preferences continue as they are.
Cancel before the free week ends and you pay nothing. Once your membership has ended, your planning stops. We keep your account, so if you come back you'll be asked to add a card and can carry on from where you left off. The free week is once per account.
If a payment fails, Stripe tries your card again over the following days and you keep using Genie Menu meanwhile. If it still can't take the payment, your membership ends and we'll ask you to add a card to carry on.
Pro
Pro costs £12.99 a month. It isn't part of the free week: you sign up and start on Basic, then upgrade to Pro from your dashboard whenever you like. Upgrading starts Pro and its monthly payment straight away and ends your Basic membership, including any free days left on it, so you're only ever paying for one plan.
Cancelling
Cancel any time from your dashboard, under Manage billing, or email support@geniemenu.co.uk and we'll do it for you. You won't be charged again after you cancel. We don't refund part-months already paid, unless the law says we must.
Prices on your list
Supermarket prices come from each supermarket's own website and are checked monthly. They're a guide to help you choose where to shop, not a quote: prices, offers, pack sizes and what's in stock change, and differ between shops and online. Where we can't find a price we show our estimate, marked “est.” What you pay at the till is set by the supermarket.
Recipes, allergies and food safety
Recipes are written for you by AI, using the diets, allergies and foods to avoid that you give us. We check every dinner for the foods you've told us to avoid, but we can't guarantee a recipe or a product is free of an allergen.
If anyone in your household has an allergy or intolerance, always read the label of every ingredient you buy, and check the method suits them. Cook food thoroughly and follow the storage and cooking instructions on the packs.
Using Genie Menu fairly
Please don't try to get into other people's accounts, overload or copy the service with automated tools, or resell what it makes. We can suspend an account that does, and will tell you why.
Our responsibility to you
We work to keep Genie Menu running and accurate, but it may sometimes be unavailable or contain mistakes. We're responsible for loss you suffer that was a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or not using reasonable care. We're not responsible for the difference between a listed price and the price you pay. Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit.
Changes and the law
If we change these terms or our prices, we'll email you at least 30 days before the change affects you, and you can cancel before then. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales; if you live elsewhere in the UK, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
